Univation recently completed a new licensing agreement in Asia, leading to the remarkable milestone of the 200th UNIPOL™ Polyethylene Process line licensed since the technology was created over 50 years ago.
Univation Technologies, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow, Inc., is a global leader in licensed high density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) technology, with UNIPOL™ PE Technology licensees located in more than 30 countries contributing to a total polyethylene design capacity of over 65 million tons per annum.
UNIPOL™ PE Technology has been leading the polyethylene industry since its creation with innovative process designs, world-scale reactor capacities, differentiated polyethylene (PE) resin products, advanced polymerization catalysts, state-of-the-art process control software and comprehensive customer technical services. UNIPOL™ PE Process development started in HDPE with the successful start-up of the first gas phase plant at Seadrift, Texas, USA in 1968. Just nine years later, the gas phase platform was expanded into the all-new product category of LLDPE when the first LLDPE UNIPOL™ PE Process line started up in 1977. The rapid pace of technology development continued with the first generation of high-performance metallocene LLDPE grades commercialized in 1995. Over the years, Univation has continued to stay at the forefront of PE industry innovation through focused development programs that have delivered numerous new technology platforms including single-reactor bimodal HDPE grades, advanced unimodal HDPE grades, further generations of metallocene-based LLDPE and HDPE products, and proprietary advanced process control and virtual training software technologies.
Dr. Steven F. Stanley, President of Univation Technologies, commented, “I am extremely proud of Univation and the multiple generations of both current and past employees that made the achievement of our 200th licensed reactor line possible.
