HOUSTON — Univation Technologies, LLC is continuing to advance its role as a broader licensed technology platform provider with plans to introduce Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology, a new vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) technology platform designed to support integrated production of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and other high-value downstream derivates and end-use products.
The planned Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology offering represents the next step in Univation’s continued evolution from a leading polyethylene technology licensor into a broader provider of world-class manufacturing platforms serving both the polyethylene and chemical process industries.
Building on the launch of the UNIGILITY™ Tubular High Pressure PE Process Technology for flexible production of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and EVA resins, Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology is expected to further strengthen Univation’s ability to help customers evaluate integrated value chain opportunities. By combining upstream VAM production with downstream EVA resin manufacturing, producers can pursue greater supply reliability, operational flexibility, and long-term competitiveness.
VAM is a critical raw material for EVA production and a versatile building block used across a wide range of downstream applications. In addition to supporting EVA requirements, VAM can enable participation in attractive derivative markets including polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH), polyvinyl butyral (PVB), ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH), and other specialty vinyl acetate copolymers serving construction, consumer, industrial, packaging, coatings, adhesives, textile, and safety glass applications.
The Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology platform will leverage more than 50 years of Dow manufacturing experience producing VAM at commercial scale. That operating history has helped shape a technology platform founded in reliability, product quality, operational excellence, and long-term competitiveness.
Designed for integration within ethylene value chains, the technology complements Univation’s existing platforms and includes licensing, engineering support, training, and ongoing technical assistance for optimized plant operation.
With the planned introduction of Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology, Univation is continuing to expand its licensed technology portfolio and create new opportunities for customers seeking reliable, flexible, and competitive manufacturing solutions.
Univation looks forward to sharing additional details about Vinyl Acetate Monomer Process Technology in the coming months as part of its growing family of licensed technologies designed to support customers across today’s evolving polyethylene and chemical process markets.
