HOUSTON – 10 December 2018 – Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Company (“ZPC”) has selected Univation Technologies’ UNIPOL™ PE Technology for its world-scale 500 kTA polyethylene plant to be constructed in Zhoushan, Zhejian, in the People’s Republic of China.
Representing ZPC’s second investment in UNIPOL™ PE Technology, this new PE plant has full-density capabilities covering a broad range of PE market segments, including bimodal and unimodal HDPE, metallocene PE and conventional LLDPE. In addition to the inherent product flexibility of the UNIPOL™ PE Technology, the world-scale capacity combined with the low total investment costs of this new line allows ZPC to take full advantage of excellent economies-of-scale to produce highly cost-competitive resin products for the China market.
Furthermore, ZPC has elected to access a full breadth of Univation’s UNIPOL™ PE Product capability including ACCLAIM™ Unimodal HDPE Technology for advanced unimodal products and PRODIGY™ Bimodal HDPE Technology for unique single-reactor bimodal HDPE products covering film, blow molding, and bimodal pressure pipe applications.
ZPC will also manufacture conventional LLDPE products while accessing PE markets requiring a differentiated product slate through Univation’s XCAT™ Metallocene LLDPE Technology. The XCAT™ Metallocene LLDPE Technology enables the fabrication of advanced metallocene-based film structures for high-performance blown stretch film applications as well as advantaged packaging film applications.
Additionally, ZPC has licensed Univation’s advanced process control system, PREMIER™ APC+ 2.0, which provides start-of-the-art process control capability for the new plant. APC+ 2.0 further enhances product consistency and quality while also facilitating smooth product transitions across a full range of UNIPOL™ PE Product grades.
